The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has reached a historic high of 26% in public support, according to a new poll, marking its strongest position to date.
With just two weeks remaining until the election of a new chancellor, AfD now leads the political rankings in Germany, edging ahead of the conservative bloc formed by the Christian Democratic Union and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU), which holds at 25%.
The survey, conducted by the Forsa research institute on behalf of RTL and NTV, shows a 2-point increase in AfD’s support over the past week.
