Bus carrying Ukrainians overturns near Warsaw airport, several injured

Sixteen people, including a child, were hospitalized after two serious accidents occurred Tuesday morning on an expressway near Warsaw Airport.

On Tuesday morning, two major accidents happened on the S2 expressway near Warsaw’s Chopin Airport. First, a bus carrying citizens, including Ukrainians and Belarusians, crashed into barriers at the exit from the S2 to the S7 expressway and overturned onto its side. The crash occurred at a sharp curve in the road.

Moments later, during the rescue operation, another serious accident took place when a truck collided with a fire engine.

A total of 16 people, including a child, were hospitalized. The condition of two of the injured is reported as serious. Their nationalities have not been specified.

More than 100 firefighters and over 70 medical personnel were working at the scene in the morning. Medical tents were set up on the roadway of the S2 expressway near the village of Dawidy, between the Pulawska and Airport interchanges; part of the expressway was blocked.

Traffic difficulties were expected to last at least until 8:00 a.m., and motorists were advised to avoid the S2 expressway near the airport.
