On Tuesday, April 29, Lithuania will carry out a large-scale civil defense exercise in its capital, Vilnius.
The drills are designed to simulate emergency response scenarios, including a major fire involving chemical hazards and a terrorist incident in a public area.
The exercise will bring together multiple agencies, including the Vilnius County Police, the Aras counter-terrorism unit, the Lithuanian Police School, the Fire and Rescue Department, Emergency Medical Services, and the Unified Emergency Assistance Center.
This coordinated operation aims to test and strengthen collaboration among national and local authorities, emergency responders, and non-governmental organizations in the face of complex crises linked to hybrid threats. A key focus of the drills will be enhancing both physical and cyber security, particularly in the context of international events, which are seen as periods of elevated risk.
