A large-scale cyberattack on the system of state registers was detected in Poland

On Wednesday, April 30, Poland experienced a large-scale cyberattack targeting its national registry system, according to reports from the RMF FM radio station.

Media sources indicate that the attack was successfully repelled; however, some public services may still face disruptions. Users may encounter difficulties with tax payments, the functioning of the mObywatel mobile application, and vehicle registration processes.

Preliminary information suggests it was a DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attack — a tactic where cybercriminals use numerous devices to simultaneously connect to and overload a system, effectively disabling it.

The origin of the attack remains unknown at this time. Poland’s cyber police and the Internal Security Agency have launched an investigation.
