Jorge Buxadé, MEP for the Spanish conservative party Vox, has suggested that the Spanish socialist government’s failed energy policies are to blame for the massive blackout that plunged most of Spain and neighbouring Portugal into darkness on Monday, April 28th.
Spain’s blackout exposed the chaos of green energy dogma.
🇪🇸 @Jorgebuxade says Sánchez wrecked Spain’s power grid—and now refuses to take responsibility. The blackout is just the beginning.

Speaking in MCC Brussels’ podcast, the politician said:
They have changed all our electric systems. In Spain, for years we have dismantled the nuclear plants, we have demolished thermal power plants, and we have created an energy mix depending on non-continuous, non-permanent sources of energy. Wind and solar energy have a very, very strong position in the energy mix, and the system collapsed.
Buxadé questioned why, after 24 hours, the country’s citizens were not told about the causes of the blackout.
I think the majority of Spaniards fear that we will never know because [prime minister Pedro] Sánchez is a liar. He’s a compulsive liar. He cannot blame Franco. He cannot blame freedom of speech or social media. He cannot blame the “far right.” He cannot blame climate change. He’s responsible.
