21 suspects to face trial in France over prison attacks

In France, 21 suspects are set to stand trial on Friday for their involvement in a series of attacks on prisons and the destruction of vehicles belonging to prison staff. The charges will be presented by a Paris court.

“Investigations have clearly shown the connection of these actions to a network of serious organized crime,” stated the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office.

One of the accused is believed to have created a Telegram account named DDPF, an acronym for “Defense of French Prisoners” or “Rights of French Prisoners.” This account has taken responsibility for the attacks.

Earlier this week, large-scale raids were conducted across France, resulting in the arrest of 30 individuals, including four minors, with suspected links to the attacks. Seven of those arrested were later released without charges.
