Trump’s duties cost Apple $900 million dollars

The tariffs imposed by Donald Trump have resulted in an increase in Apple’s costs by $900 million in the current quarter alone. This amount is significant even for a giant like Apple and has become a point of discussion in the company’s financial report.

Tim Cook, the company’s CEO, noted that this estimate assumes no additional financial burdens will arise in the future. Cook chose not to provide forecasts for the upcoming quarters.

The company did not disclose the exact amount of the financial impact during the earnings call with analysts, but according to media reports, Apple is actively expanding its iPhone production in India.

Due to the high tariffs, Apple has been forced to reconsider its supply logistics. Previously, most iPhones were manufactured in China, but the introduction of tariffs on Chinese goods, including 145% duties, prompted the company to seek alternative manufacturing sources. Currently, around 50% of iPhones sold in the U.S. are sourced from India, and in the next quarter, Apple plans to almost entirely supply the U.S. market with iPads, Mac computers, and smartwatches from Vietnam.
