Finnair cancels over 100 flights on Monday due to strike

Due to a union strike, Finnish airline Finnair abruptly canceled more than 100 flights scheduled for May 19.

Finnair announced it is canceling over 100 flights to and from Helsinki’s Vantaa Airport because of disruptions to routine procedures caused by the union strike.

Passengers with unaffected flights were advised to check in online and arrive at the airport well in advance.

The employees’ union is prepared to carry out a full strike to pressure employers during negotiations over a collective labor agreement for workers in the air passenger transport sector.

In April, Finnair announced it would cancel 230 summer flights due to resource shortages.
