Trump amplifies wild claim that Biden was replaced by a ‘robot clone’

In a move sure to stir controversy, U.S. President Donald Trump has shared a bizarre conspiracy theory suggesting that his predecessor, Joe Biden, was secretly executed and replaced by a robotic double.

Over the weekend, an anonymous post made the rounds online, claiming Biden’s family had been scrambling to profit off him after he was diagnosed with cancer — and further alleging that the real Biden was “executed in 2020.” According to the post, what Americans now see is a collection of “clones, doubles, and robotic engineered soulless entities.” Trump later reposted this message on his Truth Social platform — offering no commentary, but giving the claim a major signal boost.

This comes on the heels of Biden’s dramatic exit from the 2024 race. The former president had faced growing questions about his cognitive health and withdrew after a widely panned debate performance that sent Democratic leaders into crisis mode. He named Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement, but she ultimately failed to defeat Trump at the polls.

For years, Republicans have accused Biden’s inner circle of hiding his health problems from the public. Those claims gained new momentum last month when Biden revealed he’s battling stage 4 prostate cancer that has spread to his bones.

Adding fuel to the fire, a new book — Original Sin by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios journalist Alex Thompson — alleges that a tight-knit group of Biden family members and trusted aides were the real power players during his presidency. According to the authors, this informal “Politburo” shielded the public from the extent of Biden’s decline and steered major decisions behind closed doors.

With wild theories now circulating in both political circles and online forums, Trump’s unfiltered promotion of the “robotic Biden” narrative ensures this latest controversy is far from over.
