UK withdraws embassy staff from Tehran amid escalating Israel-Iran conflict

The UK has pulled its embassy staff from Tehran, citing security concerns as the Israel-Iran conflict continues to intensify. In a statement issued by the British Foreign Office, the UK confirmed that the embassy would remain closed, and staff would be temporarily relocated.

“Given the current security situation, we’ve taken the precaution of withdrawing our staff. The embassy will continue to function remotely,” the Foreign Ministry explained.

This move comes on the eighth day of the ongoing Israel-Iran war, with no signs of a de-escalation. While the British embassy in Tel Aviv stays open, London has advised the families of embassy staff to leave Israel, with relatives beginning to depart the country yesterday.

The UK’s decision reflects growing concerns about the safety of diplomatic personnel in the region as tensions mount.
