Explosion in German resort town harbor injures several

An explosion in the harbor of Niendorf, part of the municipality of Timmendorfer Strand in Schleswig-Holstein, disrupted the calm of the prestigious Baltic Sea resort town.

Police cordoned off the area as the exact cause was initially unclear. Later, authorities confirmed that a gas cylinder had exploded in the harbor area.

Several people suffered acoustic trauma, and one man with minor injuries was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

According to reports, an acetylene cylinder stored at the harbor site exploded. The cause is still under investigation, but there are currently no signs of intentional foul play. Authorities suspect that the explosion may have been triggered by the heat on the May 1 public holiday.

Timmendorfer Strand is a well-known resort town on the Baltic Sea in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany. It is popular among tourists for its sandy beaches, seaside promenade, aquarium, and mild maritime climate. With a population of about 24,000, it is considered one of the most upscale resorts in northern Germany.
