Trump announces major progress in US–China trade talks

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced significant progress in trade negotiations between the United States and China, which took place in Switzerland.

According to the president, the talks were held in a “friendly and constructive atmosphere.” He added that the two sides discussed many issues and reached numerous agreements.

“In a friendly yet constructive atmosphere, we agreed on a full reset of relations. We want China to open up to American business in a way that benefits both China and the United States. Major progress has been made,” Trump emphasized.

It is known that U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer met in Switzerland with Chinese economic chief He Lifeng for negotiations that may represent a first step toward resolving ongoing trade disputes.

The trade war between the U.S. and China, during which both sides imposed reciprocal tariffs exceeding 100%, had effectively frozen trade between the world’s two largest economies.

Recently, however, there have been signs that both parties are willing to make mutual concessions.
