Trump’s transition team spokesperson, Caroline Levitt, stated that several individuals appointed to high positions in his administration have become victims of threats, including bomb threats and instances of “swatting”—false reports of crimes that lead to police intervention.
Levitt clarified that the threats were made on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. She thanked law enforcement for their swift response, which ensured the safety of those targeted. She also expressed gratitude from Trump and the entire transition team for their quick actions.
The spokesperson did not specify the names of all the individuals affected, but Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, whom Trump appointed as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, publicly shared that she had received a bomb threat at her home, and law enforcement responded with a high level of professionalism.
According to The Guardian, threats were also directed at Pete Hegseth, a Fox News host nominated by Trump to head the Pentagon, and former Congressman Matt Gaetz, who had been a candidate for the position of U.S. Attorney General.
