A large-scale protest was held in Valencia, with tens of thousands of people expressing dissatisfaction with the actions of regional authorities during the devastating floods in October.
Around 130,000 people took to the streets, demanding the resignation of local officials, who are accused of ineffective actions during the emergency. Over 230 people lost their lives in the October floods in the Valencia region.
Protesters claim that emergency alerts were received on mobile phones only after many areas had already been flooded.
Regional leader Carlos Masó rejects the demand for his resignation, stating that he has no intention of stepping down. He has made personnel changes in the government and appointed officials responsible for recovery efforts in the affected areas.
Masó acknowledges that mistakes were made but argues that the floods were unprecedented in scale, and the authorities likely could not have changed the situation. He also emphasized that the government is making every effort to restore infrastructure in the flooded areas.
