Orbán backs Georgian government against “Brussels bureaucrats and Soros network”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán voiced strong support for Georgia’s ruling party, condemning what he referred to as attacks from “Brussels bureaucrats” and the “Soros network.”

Orbán made the remarks after meeting with Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, in Budapest on Monday. The visit was part of a delegation led by members of Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream party.

It’s time for the bureaucrats in Brussels and the Soros-network to stop attacking the government in Georgia. I expressed my support to Chairman Shalva Papuashvili in their fight for Georgia’s sovereignty,” Orbán wrote.

Orbán’s comments underline his ongoing criticism of EU institutions and billionaire philanthropist George Soros, whom he has often accused of meddling in national affairs.
