Fatal fire breaks out at French nursing home

A deadly fire erupted at a nursing home in Bouffémont, a town near Paris, on Saturday morning, claiming the lives of three people.

The blaze started around 7:20 AM, and staff quickly alerted firefighters. At the time of the incident, approximately 80 residents were at the facility, with about thirty in a secured ward.

Around 100 firefighters were dispatched to the scene to battle the flames. The Montmorency gendarmerie has launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, which, according to the prosecutor’s office, originated in the nursing home’s laundry room.

An emergency response plan called NOVI, designed for large-scale rescue efforts, was activated to handle the large number of victims.
