Elon Musk has demanded that all U.S. civil servants provide a detailed report on their activities over the past week or resign.
In a message posted on 𝕏, Musk emphasized that every federal employee would soon receive an email asking them to provide detailed information about their work over the past week. Failure to respond would be considered a resignation.
However, several key government agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the State Department, and the Pentagon, have rejected Musk’s demands. Sources cited by The New York Times indicated that similar positions were taken by the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Homeland Security.
Not stopping there, Musk even sent notices to federal judges, stating that they too are required to submit reports on their work. This prompted a strongly negative reaction from the judiciary. According to recommendations from judicial authorities, staff were instructed to “take no action” in response to Musk’s directives, as judges are not subject to executive authority.
Musk’s initiative has sparked discussions at the highest levels of government. Political circles are expressing concerns that such actions could lead to a conflict between the executive and judicial branches of the U.S. government.
