Last week, the Tate brothers arrived in Florida from Romania, where they face charges of rape and human trafficking.
The Florida Attorney General announced the start of a criminal investigation into Andrew and Tristan Tate, who are accused of human trafficking in Romania, immediately after their return to the U.S. Attorney General James Utmeyer stated that he has instructed his office to conduct a preliminary investigation in collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
After the Tate brothers landed in Fort Lauderdale, Governor Ron DeSantis stated that they are not welcome in Florida and instructed the Attorney General’s office to determine if the state has jurisdiction over their case.
On Monday, in an interview on the PPD podcast, Andrew Tate said that the governor had succumbed to media pressure. Tate noted that he holds an American passport and has the right to visit the U.S., and that he has not broken any laws, been convicted, or found guilty of any crimes.
The Tate brothers, who hold American and British citizenship, were arrested at the end of 2022. In 2023, they were charged in Romania with running a criminal group that lured women for sexual exploitation. Andrew Tate was also accused of rape.
In January, an appeals court returned the case to prosecutors, leading to their release from house arrest, though they are still not allowed to leave the country.
