Irish police have launched an investigation into criminal damage inflicted on golf courses owned by former U.S. President Donald Trump, AFP reports, citing law enforcement statements.
According to local media, unidentified individuals dug holes and placed Palestinian flags on two golf courses located at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg, western Ireland. Police confirmed they are investigating an incident of deliberate damage to commercial property in County Clare.
A spokesperson for Trump Ireland described the act as “a childish, criminal stunt,” assuring that the Trump Doonbeg team will quickly address the damage to ensure it does not affect business operations.
This is not the first attack on Trump’s businesses in Europe. Earlier, his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland was defaced with pro-Palestinian graffiti, with a group of activists claiming responsibility for the act in support of Palestine.
The incidents come amid Trump’s recent statements on the situation in Gaza.
He suggested that the U.S. should “take control” of the territory and turn it into the “Riviera of the Middle East.” He also proposed relocating Palestinians to neighboring countries such as Egypt and Jordan, while Israeli officials suggested that Palestinian refugees be resettled in European nations that have recognized Palestinian statehood.
