Almost 40% of Poles support Ukraine giving up land to end the war

A new survey by United Surveys for Wirtualna Polska reveals that Poles’ views on how to end the war in Ukraine are heavily influenced by their political affiliations. According to the findings, nearly 40% of Poles believe Ukraine should consider territorial concessions to reach a peace agreement.

In contrast, about a quarter of respondents think Ukraine should continue fighting until it regains all of its lost land. Another 21.8% of people feel that peace should take precedence over borders and support abandoning the idea of reclaiming territory altogether. Around 14% of participants had no opinion on the matter.

The survey also reveals a clear divide between conservative and liberal voters. Among those from the ruling coalition (KO, Left, Third Way), 42% advocate for Ukraine to keep fighting to recover its territories, while 35% favor partial concessions. Meanwhile, 8% are willing to let go of the idea of territorial recovery altogether. On the other hand, opposition supporters (PiS, Confederation) lean more toward compromise, with 43% suggesting partial concessions, and 36% advocating for Ukraine to renounce its territorial claims for peace. Only 15% of this group wants Ukraine to keep fighting for every inch of land.

In related news, U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, following talks with Vladimir Putin, emphasized that the fate of the four Ukrainian regions occupied by Russia will play a crucial role in any potential peace agreement. However, he stopped short of commenting on whether the U.S. would recognize these Russian territorial gains.
