In response to the “security situation,” the German Ministry of the Interior is urging the preparation of the civilian population, including schoolchildren, for potential crises and military threats. This is reported by Spiegel.
The Ministry of the Interior, led by Acting Minister Nancy Faeser, has proposed placing more emphasis on preparing young people in schools for emergency situations and potential military conflicts.
Although the responsibility for the content of school education lies with the federal states, the federal government is ready to provide materials for students and teachers through the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief.
The Ministry also supports the recently proposed initiative by the European Commission to prepare for crises related to war and recommends that citizens stock up on water, food, and other essential goods.
On March 26, the European Union presented its Readiness Strategy, which outlines measures for preventing and responding to various crises, including floods, wildfires, and armed conflicts.
