Călin Georgescu, the former Romanian presidential hopeful and right-wing political figure, remains under judicial supervision after authorities extended restrictions on his movement and public activity.
Georgescu appeared at the prosecutor’s office on Thursday, spending roughly 30 minutes inside before departing without addressing the media.
Sources confirm that his judicial supervision has been extended by another 60 days. During this period, Georgescu is prohibited from leaving the country without explicit permission and is barred from sharing fascist, antisemitic, or related content on social media platforms.
The politician is currently under investigation for multiple offenses, with the most serious allegations involving attempts to destabilize Romania’s constitutional order.
Due to these legal proceedings, Georgescu is ineligible to run in the upcoming presidential elections in May, leaving George Simion as the only right-wing contender in the race.
