In 2024, the Netherlands recorded a record-high number of antisemitic incidents, according to the Center for Information and Documentation on Israel (CIDI).
A report published on Thursday revealed that 421 such incidents were registered over the year—an 11% increase compared to 2023, which had already set a previous record.
CIDI notes that this is the highest figure in the 40 years since it began monitoring such cases. The center emphasizes that antisemitism is rising at an alarming rate in the country. For context, between 2012 and 2022, the average number of incidents per year was around 138. Over the past two years, the number has surged by 305%.
In 2024, CIDI received around 1,700 complaints, of which one-quarter were identified as clearly antisemitic. The data does not include incidents on social media or statements related to criticism of Israeli policy.
Particularly concerning is the sharp rise in incidents occurring in public spaces, which increased by 45%. There was also a 44% rise in acts of vandalism targeting Jewish sites, including historical landmarks.
