Fico still intends to go to Moscow parade – statement by Smer party deputy

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico still plans to take part in the May 9 Victory Day parade in Moscow, despite rumors about his possible illness. This was stated by Jan Richter, a member of the Slovak Smer party.

His comment came amid the cancellation of Fico’s public schedule on May 1, which sparked speculation about the prime minister’s health. Richter assured that Fico is in good physical and psychological condition, though he did not clarify the reason for the canceled events.

This might be related to the upcoming anniversary of May 15 – the day of the assassination attempt on him last year. There may also be a psychological factor, as he begins to realize how things could have ended, the MP noted.

Richter confirmed that the trip to Moscow for Victory Day celebrations remains on the prime minister’s agenda. According to him, Fico will be the only Slovak political figure attending the parade.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić had to cut short his visit to the United States due to health issues. He had earlier announced plans to travel to Moscow on May 9, emphasizing that he had given his word to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
