A person has been detained in the Stockholm region on suspicion of espionage, according to confirmation from the Swedish Security Service (Säpo).
The arrest was the result of a recent operation, Säpo spokesperson Karin Lutz told SVT television.
The investigation is currently being handled by the National Security Unit of the Swedish Prosecution Authority. Authorities believe the alleged offense occurred in Stockholm between May 1 and May 11.
“This is all the information we can provide at this time. The case is currently in the preliminary investigation stage,” Lutz said.
No further details have been released about the suspect’s identity or the nature of the espionage.
