US special envoy Steve Witkoff arrives in Israel amid possible hostage release

U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff has arrived in Israel, where he is expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials, according to a report published Monday by Israeli news outlet Ynet.

The visit comes amid reports that Hamas is prepared to release Israeli soldier Idan Alexander, who also holds U.S. citizenship.

U.S. Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff has landed in Israel. He is expected to meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu and other officials as preparations for the hostage’s release continue, the report said.

Ynet also notes that Witkoff plans to meet with Idan Alexander and his family once he is released.

On Sunday, Hamas announced its readiness to free Alexander as part of a broader deal aimed at achieving a ceasefire, reopening humanitarian crossings, and facilitating the delivery of aid to Gaza.
