French President Emmanuel Macron will make a state visit to the United Kingdom from July 8 to 10, where he will meet with King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla, Reuters reports, citing a statement from Buckingham Palace.
The ceremony will take place at Windsor Castle and will include traditional elements of a state visit — a formal welcome, a carriage procession, and a state banquet.
This will be Macron’s first state visit to the UK, as no invitation was extended during the Conservative government’s time in power. However, he previously visited London, including in 2020 for an event marking the 80th anniversary of General Charles de Gaulle’s historic speech, which became a symbol of the French resistance to Nazi occupation.
King Charles and Queen Camilla made a reciprocal state visit to France in September 2023. During that visit, Charles became the first British monarch to address the French Senate.
Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump is also preparing for a possible state visit to the UK in September. If it takes place, Trump would become the first American leader to be invited to a state ceremony in Britain twice.
