On Monday, an unusual protest took place in the center of Prague as pro-Palestinian activists dyed the waters of the Vltava River bright red.
The demonstration was held in memory of more than 186,000 victims of the Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip. According to the organizers, the red color symbolizes not only the blood of those killed in the bombings but also highlights the scale of the humanitarian crisis in the region — including hunger, water shortages, and the collapse of the healthcare system.
The organizers also criticized the Czech government for its unequivocal support of Israel, calling for an immediate end to any cooperation with the Israeli military sector.
Despite the powerful visual impact of the protest, the action received little to no coverage in Czech mainstream media. According to local police, the demonstration was peaceful and no incidents were reported.
