13 people injured by lightning strike at zoo in southeastern France

On Wednesday, 13 people were injured by a lightning strike at a zoo in the commune of La-Barben, in southeastern France. According to Parisien newspaper, one woman was hospitalized in critical condition.

The firefighting and rescue service of the Bouches-du-Rhône department reported that 46 specialists were dispatched to the scene and assisted 15 people, although two of them were unharmed. According to the publication, the lightning struck two individuals, including a German national, who remains in critical condition. The other 12 victims, including four children, were hospitalized, but their condition does not require immediate medical attention.

According to Parisien, no animals or infrastructure in the zoo were harmed. Earlier, the French meteorological service had issued a yellow weather warning for some departments due to thunderstorms.
