Two civilian helicopters collided in Finland with five people on board

Two civilian helicopters collided mid-air in western Finland. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. local time near the town of Eura, located north of Turku. Both aircraft crashed in a forested area.

According to Finnish broadcaster Yle, five people were on board the helicopters. One helicopter was carrying two passengers, while the other had three. Preliminary reports suggest that all of them were Estonian businessmen en route to an event in Kokemäki.

Eyewitnesses reported that the helicopters were flying close to each other when one suddenly made a sharp maneuver, which led to the collision.

Police stated that both helicopters were flying the same route — from Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, to an airport near Kokemäki, not far from the crash site. It is not yet known if there are any survivors.

The aviation club in the city of Pori confirmed that the passengers had been invited to a private event, with around 50 guests expected to arrive by various helicopters and small aircraft.
