Hungary says two Ukrainian spies exposed: Budapest accuses Kyiv of meddling

Hungarian intelligence services have identified two new Ukrainian agents suspected of espionage and attempts to interfere in the country’s internal affairs. The announcement was made by Zoltán Kovács, State Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Relations of the Hungarian government.

According to Kovács, one of the individuals exposed is an illegal operative of Ukrainian intelligence who established contacts with members of the Hungarian opposition. These connections, he claimed, were intended to influence Budapest’s stance on the conflict in Ukraine.

The second suspect, a Ukrainian citizen, was reportedly involved in military and energy-related espionage, with actions allegedly linked to Ukraine’s “military requirements.”

Kovács described the activities of the uncovered agents as a “classic influence operation” aimed at discrediting Hungary on the international stage and pressuring the government to shift its position on Ukraine.
