China urged the US to abandon the Golden Dome missile defense project, seeing it as a threat to the militarization of space

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued strong criticism of U.S. plans to develop a new missile defense system known as the “Golden Dome.” According to the Global Times, Beijing views the project as potentially dangerous, a violation of international agreements, and a threat to strategic stability in outer space.

Chinese diplomats argue that the implementation of the Golden Dome initiative would significantly expand the U.S. military presence in orbit and could be interpreted as a step toward developing offensive capabilities in space. The Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that such actions run counter to the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, which enshrines the principle of the peaceful use of outer space.

The Chinese government has called on Washington to abandon the Golden Dome program and return to full compliance with international obligations aimed at preventing the militarization of space.

The Golden Dome project is being developed by the Pentagon as a next-generation global missile defense system, intended to intercept ballistic missiles and other threats beyond Earth’s atmosphere. Experts warn that its deployment could shift the strategic balance of power among the U.S., Russia, and China.
