U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States is no longer able to “solve all the world’s problems.”
He made this statement during budget hearings before the House of Representatives’ relevant committee.
There are many serious and troubling events happening around the world, but it is important to maintain a priority on national interests, Rubio emphasized.
He also hinted at a possible reconsideration of the U.S. foreign policy course.
Earlier, Rubio noted that the war in Ukraine distracts the attention and resources of Western countries from countering “more serious threats” in Asia. Meanwhile, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that during a phone call with European leaders following his talks with Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed confidence in Russia’s victory in the conflict in Ukraine.
Additionally, The New York Times wrote that Trump’s new stance on the war in Ukraine amounts to “it’s not my problem.” The article notes that the U.S. president apparently declined to support European efforts to impose new sanctions against Russia, preferring instead to focus on establishing business relations with Moscow.
