Mercedes-Benz has announced plans to expand its North American headquarters in metro Atlanta, bringing approximately 500 additional jobs to the state as part of a broader restructuring.
The expansion will take place at the automaker’s existing U.S. headquarters in Sandy Springs, Georgia, which has operated since 2018 and currently employs about 800 people. The new roles are being relocated primarily from the Detroit area, where the company will shut down its financial services headquarters.
In addition to the workforce increase, Mercedes-Benz revealed plans to establish a new, multimillion-dollar research and development facility nearby. The expansion is expected to be completed by August 2026.
This move strengthens Georgia’s growing position as a hub for the automotive industry. The state already hosts the North American headquarters of Porsche and major manufacturing plants for Hyundai and Kia. Electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian is also building a large production facility in the area.
