Romania’s Constitutional Court has formally rejected right-wing candidate George Simion’s attempt to annul the results of the presidential runoff, clearing the way for the official certification of the election.
At noon, the judges of the Constitutional Court are scheduled to hold a formal session to certify the outcome, with president-elect Nicușor Dan and interim president Ilie Bolojan expected to attend.
Earlier in the day, at 10:00 a.m., the Court issued its ruling on Simion’s complaint, stating: “After reviewing the matter, the Constitutional Court unanimously rejected the petition to annul the election results as unfounded. The decision is final and has been communicated to the Central Electoral Bureau.”
In response, Simion alleged that a “coup is ongoing” and urged his followers to “continue the fight and join him.”
