U.S. President Donald Trump will take part in the upcoming G7 summit, which will be held in Canada from June 15 to 17. The announcement was made by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt during a briefing on May 22.
Leavitt clarified that before heading to Canada, Trump will participate in a military parade in Washington on June 14, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Army. This will be Trump’s first G7 summit since returning to the White House, as well as his first visit to Canada — a country he has previously referred to as a potential “51st state of the U.S.”
Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, whose Liberal Party recently won the national elections, has promised to take a tough stance in the upcoming talks with the American leader.
