On Friday, police in the Berlin district of Spandau detained a 13-year-old boy suspected of stabbing his classmate at school the day before, according to the publication Spiegel.
The teenager was found in the “Old Town” area of Spandau. He is expected to undergo a medical examination soon. Earlier, law enforcement officials appealed to the public for help in locating the suspect, who stabbed a peer in the school locker room and fled the scene.
Investigators have ruled out motives related to xenophobia or religious intolerance, as both children are German citizens.
Due to the suspect’s age, he will not face criminal prosecution. Earlier this week, an attack by a 16-year-old on three 15-year-old schoolgirls occurred in the Finnish city of Tampere.
