According to the latest Eurobarometer survey, citizens of the European Union are showing the highest level of support for the single currency since its introduction.
Across the EU, 74% of respondents view the euro positively, with support reaching 83% in the euro area — the highest figures ever recorded.
Perceptions of the European economy remain mixed: 44% of respondents consider it to be in good shape, while 48% view it as poor. Nonetheless, 43% of EU citizens expect the economic situation to remain stable over the next 12 months.
In addition, more than 80% of Europeans support the development of a common security and defense policy among EU member states — also the highest level of support since 2004.
