U.S. President Donald Trump has congratulated Karol Nawrocki on his victory in the presidential election in Poland.
In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump shared a NewsMax headline stating: “Trump Ally Wins in Poland, Shocking All of Europe.” He also congratulated the Polish people on electing a new president, writing: “Congratulations to Poland — you chose a WINNER!”
Poland remains a key U.S. ally in the field of defense. In 2022, Warsaw significantly strengthened its defense cooperation with Washington, including raising its defense spending to 5% of GDP.
Trump openly supported Nawrocki during the campaign. On May 1, he welcomed him at the White House and wished him success in the election. Between the first and second rounds of voting, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem visited Poland and publicly voiced her support for Nawrocki.
Following the announcement of the election results, the U.S. State Department expressed hope for productive cooperation with Poland’s new president, emphasizing the country’s important role in strengthening NATO and safeguarding Euro-Atlantic security.
