France has announced that the G7 summit in 2026 will be held in the city of Évian-les-Bains from June 14 to 16. The announcement was made by French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday.
Known worldwide for its mineral water, Évian-les-Bains is situated on the shores of Lake Geneva near the Swiss border.
France last hosted the G7 summit in 2019, which took place in the coastal resort town of Biarritz.
This year, Canada is the host of the G7 summit. However, media reports indicate that Canada abandoned plans for a strong “Group of Seven” statement on the Ukraine war due to opposition from the United States.
It was also reported that former President Trump left the summit early, missing a planned meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky, to return to Washington amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran.
