A group of pro-Palestinian activists in the UK claimed responsibility for an alleged breach of a Royal Air Force (RAF) base in central England on Friday, June 20, where they say they damaged two military aircraft.
The group, Palestine Action, reported that its members entered RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire and left the premises without being detected.
“Flights depart daily from this base to the RAF Akrotiri airbase in Cyprus. From Cyprus, British aircraft gather intelligence, refuel fighter jets, and transport weapons used to commit genocide in Gaza,” the group’s statement said.
According to the announcement, activists “used repurposed fire extinguishers to spray red paint into the jet engines of two Airbus Voyager aircraft, and also caused additional damage using crowbars.”
“Red paint, symbolizing the spilled blood of Palestinians, was also sprayed on the runway, and a Palestinian flag was left at the scene. Both activists managed to evade capture and escape from security,” the statement added.
As of now, the UK Ministry of Defence has not released an official response regarding the alleged incident.
