European ministers in Geneva urged Iran to negotiate with the U.S.

Foreign ministers of European countries have called on Iran to resume negotiations with the United States in an effort to reduce tensions in the region. The appeal came following a meeting with the Iranian foreign minister held on Friday in Geneva.

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, quoted by Sky News, emphasized that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

We are committed to continuing the current discussions and negotiations with Iran, and we urge Iran to engage in dialogue with the United States. This is a dangerous moment, and it is critically important that we prevent any further escalation of the conflict in the region, Lammy stated.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, speaking to Le Figaro, also stressed the need for a peaceful resolution.

A military solution to the Israel-Iran conflict is not possible. Iran must open the door to dialogue, particularly with the United States, in order to find a negotiated solution to this crisis, Barrot said.

The French minister also highlighted serious concerns among Europeans, including Iran’s support for terrorist groups, its supply of drones to Russia, and the detention of Western nationals.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has issued an ultimatum: Iran has two weeks to make a decision — before Washington determines whether to join Israel’s potential military actions against Iran.
