Slovak Prime Minister: country will not supply Ukraine with weapons

Slovakia has no intention of providing military assistance to Ukraine and will not participate in initiatives aimed at financing the purchase of weapons for Kyiv.

This was stated by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico during a joint press conference with the Croatian Prime Minister in Zagreb, where he is currently on an official visit.

Our government will not provide Ukraine with any military aid, nor will we participate in financial mechanisms intended to fund arms purchases, Fico emphasized.

However, he noted that Bratislava is open to cooperating with Ukraine on humanitarian projects.

Earlier, the Prime Minister had already expressed disagreement with the European Commission’s initiative to allocate funds from Slovakia’s budget to support Ukraine. According to him, such decisions should be made individually by each country based on bilateral agreements with Kyiv.
