A Spanish court has officially classified the ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting of Andriy Portnov, a former advisor to ex-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and lawyer, who was gunned down in Madrid.
According to sources cited by the EFE news agency, authorities are currently reviewing surveillance footage from nearby locations. Particular attention is being paid to recordings from a university dormitory situated across from a school, which may be key to identifying the getaway vehicle used by the suspects.
Investigators believe that three individuals were involved in the crime — the gunman and two accomplices who facilitated his escape. Forensic teams are also analyzing the firearm and ammunition used in the attack to gather further evidence.
Preliminary findings indicate that the shooter fired at least nine rounds into Portnov’s back, as investigators recovered nine shell casings at the scene. However, the exact number of bullets that struck the victim has not yet been confirmed.
