According to the IDF, more than 90% of the surface-to-air missiles known to Israel have been destroyed in Syria. These missiles are used to intercept enemy missiles.
Syria’s air defense was one of the strongest in the Middle East. The significant damage inflicted on it is considered by the Israeli military to be a “major success for Israel’s air superiority in the region.” Israel has also severely damaged other strategic weaponry in Syria, including surface-to-surface missiles, drones, and fighter jets.
The Jerusalem Post concluded that now the Islamist rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which has taken control of Damascus, will be unable (if it chooses) to threaten Israel with modern weapons.
