Moderate earthquake shakes central Greece, felt in Athens

A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck Greece on Monday, May 19, as reported by eKathimerini, citing data from the Athens Institute of Geodynamics.

The seismic event occurred near the island of Euboea (Evia), with the epicenter located at a depth of 16.9 kilometers. The tremor was strong enough to be felt in Athens, the Greek capital. Authorities have not reported any damage as of now.

Roughly twenty minutes after the main quake, a 3.6-magnitude aftershock was registered in the same region.

This latest activity follows a series of recent tremors in the area, including a 4.4-magnitude quake recorded on Sunday morning.
