President Duda to convene National Security Council to address energy infrastructure

Polish President Andrzej Duda is set to convene a meeting of the National Security Council within the next two weeks, according to Grzegorz Witkowski, advisor to the head of the National Security Bureau.

Witkowski stated that Duda “will invite, among others, key government ministers and Prime Minister Donald Tusk to the National Security Council meeting in the coming two weeks.” The agenda will center on critical investments in Poland’s energy infrastructure.

“Are we prepared for summer power outages, what is happening with nuclear energy, what is the status of the container terminal in Świnoujście, how ready are we for energy imports, what is the progress with the floating LNG terminal in the Gulf of Gdańsk?” — Witkowski listed the questions the president intends to raise.

President Duda had previously signaled his intention to call such a meeting back in April, following a major blackout in Spain and Portugal, highlighting the growing urgency around energy security.
