Between 2014 and 2021, approval of U.S. administration policies in Ukraine fluctuated between 20% and 40%.
The onset of the war with Russia in 2022 marked a sharp rise, with approval reaching 66% as the U.S. provided extensive military and financial aid to Ukraine. However, that support has since declined steadily, now standing at 40%. Negative perceptions have grown to 37%, nearing the level of positive ratings.
In comparison, views of the German government’s actions during the war rose more modestly and have remained relatively stable. After peaking at 53% approval in 2023, ratings for Germany have declined slightly to 50%.
For the first time since 2022, Ukrainians now rate the German government’s performance more favorably than that of the U.S. administration.
